When you are in regular pain, lets make this simple. lets say you have tight and sore hamstrings. You've been stretching every day but by the end of the day, your hamstrings are just as tight as have been at the start of the day. You'd think "what have I been doing to cause this tightness?" its more what you haven't been doing. Do you train hamstrings? Do you do any strengthening training focusing on hamstrings? Often I find the answer is no.
If you were to try strengthen your hamstrings with 2 to 3 sets of 20 reps just bending down to touch your toes and coming back up. You'll start feeling your hamstrings work and doing this regularly for a short amount of time lets say 3 weeks. You'll notice how great they are starting to feel. Yes after the exercise they will get tighter. Only because when a weak muscle is needed it will tighten up. So a fatigued and weak muscle muscle will really tighten up.
By doing this regularly you will find your hamstrings feeling fantastic and no longer have that soreness throughout your day. If their still sore... well you could try have a remedial massage. :)
Remember weak muscles get tight when they are called to action. Strong muscles relax right after that action. Your muscles aren't tight, their just weak.
Hope this helps.
